Artist Statement
Carla Tudor's figurative paintings are an introspective and psychologically revealing look at the everyday. Her figures are found navigating the familiar interiors of laundromats and supermarkets. Whether engaged with each other, the task at hand, or alone in quiet contemplation it is within the work a day world that the artist explores the intricacies of humaness.
Tudor's recent work focuses on construction. The impetus behind this series lies in the growing awareness of the rapidly diminishing availability of suburbia's open land. This awareness and its accompanying disturbance has compelled her to create a visual platform in which to question and probe the massive construction sites now dominating the suburban landscape.
